PROVO, Utah — BYU football will hold an alumni game at the end of spring ball for the fourth consecutive year.
The annual tradition that began in 2022 is returning to LaVell Edwards Stadium after one year away due to a field replacement. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. (MST) on Friday, March 28, and is free admission to fans.
On Friday, three weeks before kickoff, BYU football announced the captains for the annual event.
Austin Collie and Reno Mahe were named captains for the BYU Alumni Game
Former BYU wide receivers Austin Collie (2004, 2007-2008) and Reno Mahe (1998, 2001-2002) will be the captains of the 2025 Alumni Game.
It’s the first year that BYU turned to non-quarterbacks as the captains of the Alumni Game. Some of the past captains have included former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer, Max Hall, John Beck, and Kevin Feterik.
Collie and Mahe are two of the best receivers in BYU football history.
Austin Collie holds the program record for most receiving yards in a single season, with 1,538 in 2008. Reno Mahe’s 1,211 receiving yards in 2001 are fourth in program history.
Collie is second all-time in receiving yards at BYU with 3,255 yards. Mahe is 13th at 2,163 career receiving yards.
Both went on to have NFL careers.
Mahe thrived as a return specialist for the Philadelphia Eagles when Andy Reid was the head coach. Collie caught passes from some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history in, Peyton Manning (2009-2012, Indianapolis Colts) and Tom Brady (2013, New England Patriots).
