John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks recently suffered a brutal 69-61 loss to the No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies.
A win for Arkansas would have likely added a Q1 victory, given the Aggies’ ranking, but the Razorbacks couldn’t find a way to get the job done with star point guard Boogie Fland sidelined with a hand injury.
Following the loss to Texas A&M, Calipari spoke with the media, discussing the missed opportunity for Arkansas.
During the game, Calipari and the Razorbacks ran an out-of-bounds play that was broken up.
Calipari mentioned that one of his players took the blame for the missed opportunity and the Arkansas head coach clearly agreed.
“He came over and said ‘my fault,’ … Your fault? No [expletive], Calipari said, per Hawg Beat.
“We’re all watching.” Calipari believes the loss for Arkansas puts them in a difficult situation moving forward.
He explained that the Razorbacks are going to have to prove they can knock off one of the top teams in the SEC if they want chance at competing in the NCAA Tournament.
“If we won that game, we’re in the tournament,” Calipari said, per The Field of 68. “So, it’s not okay to say that we’ll be alright. Now, you’re going to have to get somebody else. I didn’t want to put that on them because I got some guys a little bit fragile. So, I’m having to hold them accountable, but keep picking them up.”
