Texas A&M basketball has been able to keep themselves alive in most ball games this season, but they couldn’t keep a rhythm going offensively tonight.
The main man the Aggies had trouble with for the Mississippi State Bulldogs was Josh Hubbard, who finished with 25 points on 3-6 shooting from downtown. Not to mention all the fouls Texas A&M was committing against him, as he was able to get to the line 11 times and make 10 free throws
This was a rarity for the Aggies, but it looks like a lot more than just taking this one loss. We’ve seen the Aggies come back when it looked like they were already down the drain. We’ve also seen the Aggies fold when the crowd noise isn’t in their favor.
Aggies basketball has shown to fold but only on the road
Obviously, it’s easier said than done to win games in this conference alone, but for the Aggies, this has been a trend since their early season collapse against UCF. They went ice cold in the latter stages of the game, costing them.
They also couldn’t finish the job against the Longhorns in Austin, as Texas took advantage off a last second game-winner.
The crowd noise has proven to be too much sometimes for the Aggies, but like we say, the SEC is no joke this year, and the gauntlet that even Auburn has had to go through deserves a lot of credit. After all, it’s college basketball, nobody in the 100 or so years of basketball ever said any game was going to be easy on the road. Anything can happen on any given night.
The good news is, the Aggies don’t have to play tests on the road so often anymore, especially with Tennessee and Auburn coming into Reed Arena later on this season. The Aggies’ last true road test will be against Florida.
The SEC tournament and March Madness will be on neutral sites, giving a fair shot to whoever plays.
This doesn’t change the fact that the Aggies are still a great basketball team, with still a two seed to potentially come in the near future, but it’s just like we all say, “you can’t win them all.”
