This past season, Kim hit .233/.330/.370/.700, with 16 doubles and 11 home runs. He also has a career .270 average and .788 OPS against lefties.
Kim is also a great defender, winning the coveted Gold Glove in 2023 at the utility spot, since he played second, shortstop, and third base.
For the Red Sox, this could be their answer, at least until next offseason. They get a righty hitter who’s a stellar defender to play the position they’ve been trying to fill for years. And if he overperforms, extend him. If he underperforms, the rookies in Vaughn Grissom and Kristian Campbell should both be given shots, since they could solve both problems as well.
Here’s hoping the Sox somehow get a superstar, but if this happens, it could be considered another win for the Sox offseason.
