If Ronnie Stanley were to test the open market during free agency, he would receive a lot of interest from many left tackle needy teams who would be willing to pay him a monster contract, a higher salary than what the Ravens would offer. Because of this, it would be logical for the front office to open contract negotiation talks in hopes of securing him a contract extension before he walks out the door and the tampering window opens.
Ravens optimistic about extending 2x Pro Bowl tackle

During Tuesday’s press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine, General Manager Eric DeCosta told the media that the Ravens are optimistic they can get a deal done with Ronnie Stanley before he enters free agency. DeCosta also said they will meet with Stanley’s agent, Kim Miale, in Indianapolis this week. Here’s what he had to say about the subject matter:
“You never want to say 100%, but I feel good that we’ll have a good, healthy debate, a good process,” DeCosta said via the team’s website. “We’re going to meet with Kim in Indy this week and I’m optimistic that we’ll be able to get a deal done.”
