While the Boston Red Sox have added a few interesting arms to their rotation and bullpen this offseason, they’ve also added some depth options to minor-league deals who could help get through a grueling 162-game season.
On Saturday, Boston has added another depth piece, as they’ve signed right-handed pitcher Noah Davis to a minor-league deal (via. Davis’ social media accounts).
Davis, 27, was an 11th-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds in the 2018 MLB draft out of UC Santa Barbara. The Reds traded him to the Colorado Rockies in 2021, and he debuted with the club the following year.
Over the last three seasons, Davis has appeared in 18 games and made six starts for the Rockies at the MLB level, posting a 7.71 ERA, 1.948 WHIP and 7.5 K/9 over 51 1/3 innings. In 32 games (23 starts) in Triple-A, he’s posted a 5.06 ERA, 1.560 WHIP and 8.0 K/9.
Davis has been working with Driveline Baseball, which Red Sox interim director of baseball sciences Kyle Boddy founded.
The Red Sox are hoping that getting him into their pitching program will yield better results.
