The Boston Red Sox losing out on Teoscar Hernandez has really put them in a bind to find a righty hitter. However, they may be able to get a quality slugger for a low price, which they seem to like to do. According to Fansided’s Christopher Kline, the Sox will try to target All-Star switch-hitting slugger Anthony Santander.

“If the Red Sox want a home run-hitting, right-handed outfielder, look no further than Anthony Santander. He’s actually a switch hitter, so there’s baked-in matchup flexibility. The 30-year-old shares a few exciting parallels to Hernandez, but he’s also a few years younger and coming from Boston’s own division. This is a chance to screw over the Baltimore Orioles, who effectively replaced Santander with former Boston slugger Tyler O’Neill. This is poetic”.

This past season, Santander slashed .235/.308/.506/.814 with 25 doubles, 44 homers, and 102 RBI. If Santander could raise his average a bit and keep his power, he would be the perfect fit.

The only problem with Santander is he actually is a worse righty than lefty hitter. However, with the lack of options and the Sox’s apparent need to not spend a lot, he might be the answer.

Hopefully, the Sox go out and get somebody relatively good, whether it be Santander or Alex Bregman, otherwise they can kiss the idea of fans trusting them goodbye for good.
