Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce Home Burglary Incidents Get Major FBI Update: Report
Fans were met with some shocking news on Tuesday after it was reported by TMZ Sports that the home of Patrick Mahomes was burglarized on the eve of their Week 5 win over the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 7. According to the same report, Travis Kelce’s home was also robbed a few hours later, with $20,000 worth of cash taken.
TMZ has now provided a major update on these two active cases, with the FBI now getting involved in the investigation.
“The feds are working with local law enforcement agencies to investigate the burglaries at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce … TMZ has learned,” the report read.
“Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ … the FBI is assisting the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the Mahomes incident, and joining forces with the Leawood Police Department to probe the Kelce crime.”
TMZ has also indicated that according to their sources, “the feds would NOT get involved if this were a run-of-the-mill burglary spree on the local level.” The fact that the FBI is taking part in the investigation suggests that this could indicate “organized crime crossing state lines.”
The initial TMZ report also stated that local authorities suspect that the burglaries in the homes of the Chiefs stars could be “part of a larger crime spree in the area.”
While it was reported that a significant amount of cash was taken from Kelce’s home, there is no information on what, if any, was missing from Mahomes’ estate.
For their part, Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift reportedly opted to sleep in a hotel in Kansas City after the burglary as opposed to spending the night in Kelce’s Leawood mansion.
The Chiefs are coming off a 16-14 victory against the Denver Broncos — their ninth of the season — and will be back in action on Sunday when they face off against the Buffalo Bills at Bills Stadium.
