Brian Gutekunst has made two moves so far. He has agreed to terms with both offensive lineman Aaron Banks and cornerback Nate Hobbs. Both players are quality pieces, but the Packers still need to address the wide receiver and pass rushing areas on their roster.
With that in mind, Green Bay is reportedly interested in a new free agent who has just hit the market.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Rams officially made the decision to release Kupp. After trying to trade him, they opted to simply move on and let him become a free agent.
According to a report from Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Packers are among the teams who have been waiting for Kupp to hit the open market.
Kupp would be a very intriguing addition for Green Bay. He has had some injury issues in recent years, but would still be a big-time addition for the Packers’ offense.
During the 2024 season with the Rams, Kupp played in 12 games. He ended up catching 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns on the year.
He may not be the same player that racked up 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns back in 2021, but he’s still more than capable of playing a key role. He is also going to have a chip on his shoulder from the way things ended in Los Angeles.
Expect to see Green Bay show interest in Kupp. However, there will be a lot of teams with interest and the Packers will have to be very aggressive if they want to bring him onboard.
