Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has heaped praise on teammate and captain Martin Ødegaard, revealing an instant connection with the Norwegian midfielder that has impressed him both on and off the pitch.
Speaking about his relationship with Ødegaard, Havertz described a natural chemistry that was evident from the very beginning.
“I think the connection with Martin was there from the first second, to be honest,” Havertz said. “I loved him always as a player, I used to watch him a lot, especially the season before I came to Arsenal, when we played them.”
The German international went on to highlight Ødegaard’s exceptional talent, expressing his amazement at the Norwegian’s unique ability to control the game with seemingly effortless ease.
“He’s ridiculous in what he does, not only in the game but in training, it’s crazy, like, I don’t know, you follow him and he has the ball in front of you and he just does those movements and I’m like ‘where do I go now?’” Havertz continued.
“Everyone is thinking like ‘how is he doing that?’ He plays so simple, he plays so easy but he always, like, plays so dangerous as well.”
Havertz’s admiration for Ødegaard’s talent is clear, and the two players seem to have formed a strong understanding on the pitch. This connection will undoubtedly be crucial as Arsenal continue their Premier League campaign, with their next challenge being the highly anticipated North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on September 15th.
