Each of the past two seasons, the Jets needed four different starting quarterbacks to get through their schedule. In 2023, it was Rodgers, Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian. One year earlier, it was Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco and Chris Streveler.Projections for De’Von Achane’s point total in Week 18 ‘NFL Fantasy Live’
In 2024, Rodgers’s durability has allowed for the Jets to have the same starting quarterback for every game prior to the Week 18 finale against the Miami Dolphins. According to interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, the 41-year-old quarterback will start for the 17th time this season when the Dolphins visit MetLife Stadium on January 5.
“I do, yeah. Barring an injury,” said Ulbrich after the December 29 loss in Buffalo.
One night’s sleep did nothing to change Ulbrich’s mind. While addressing reporters virtually on Monday morning, the coach confirmed the “plan to just stick with everything.”
Last time out, veteran backup Tyrod Taylor relieved Rodgers early in the fourth quarter as the Bills took a 40-0 lead. Rodgers was intercepted twice and failed to engineer a scoring drive in the loss.
“I think that Aaron would tell you the same that it wasn’t to his standard and he didn’t play the brand of football that he’s capable of playing, but at the same time it’s never one man,” said Ulbrich.
