Team USA star Lexi Thompson will hope to take better memories from the 2024 Solheim Cup after an unfortunate incident in 2023.
The superstar golfer recently announced plans to retire at the end of the year and her seventh Solheim Cup will be her last.
Only two of those appearances have resulted in victory, with Europe experiencing dominance over the past decade.
Thompson delivered three points out of four in 2023, but the event finished 14-14, meaning Europe retained the cup in dramatic fashion.
And the American will not want to be reminded of what happened on Friday.
After USA stormed into an emphatic lead on day one, Thompson threw away a vital half-point in the afternoon session.
Playing alongside Lilia Vu, the duo were tied with the European pair of Leona Maguire and Georgia Hall heading into the final hole.
Moments prior to Thompson’s third shot, Maguire had chipped in for a birdie four, with the American then required to hole her chip for a full point – or get up-and-down for a half.
However, the 2014 Chevron Championship winner’s attempt was disastrous.
