After a year of “physical and emotional h— on earth,” Princess Kate, Princess of Wales, has been declared cancer-free. She is also credited with contributing to the “softening” of Prince William’s “grudges” from years past.
“My gut feeling is that Catherine was influential in this slight softening of her husband’s implacable stand. In the film she made about the end of her chemotherapy, she told how cancer had given her a new perspective. What clearly matters to her more now is family, love, and being loved. Perhaps she has persuaded William that life is too short for grudges,” veteran royal reporter Jennie Bond shared to InStyle.
It has been stated that the two troubled royal brothers have not communicated with one another for nearly two years. On Sunday, September 15, the Prince of Wales took to social media to wish the Duke of Sussex a happy birthday on the occasion of his 40th birthday.
Since that time, neither the sender nor the receiver has expressed any further well-wishes or exchanged any other correspondence. Bond cautions individuals who are hastily drawing conclusions in the midst of a flurry of reactions that follow the sudden and unexpected appearance of the message.
“Birthday wishes posted on the main royal family website are also a sign of a possible thaw in relations between Harry and his father. But this is only a tentative first step in a complex and sensitive situation. I still think the brothers’ relationship is almost irretrievable,” the expert observed.
One person with knowledge of the royal family believes that the message, which did not take place in 2022 or 2023, and Prince Harry did not wish Prince William a happy 40th birthday in June 2022, was most likely due to the fact that the California transplant was a significant developmental event.
“When His Majesty came to the throne, he changed rules stating that only senior working royals get social media congratulatory messages. But this was a milestone for Harry, and formality changes then. Why on earth would they wish him a random happy birthday but totally ignore the Sussex children’s birthdays year after year?” the anonymous source stated to OK! Magazine.
“Petty feuds” do not fit the bill, according to the opinions of some commentators, who believe that the monarchy should return to leading by example despite the toxicity of the situation.
“William has so much on his plate that I don’t think he has time to deal with Harry. But the first steps matter. And though the brothers may never be close again, it doesn’t mean the future has to be full of bad blood. Catherine is right. Family should always be paramount,” Jennie continued.
This comes after the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex attended a memorial ceremony for their uncle on August 29 and conducted a “no contact reunion” with each other. At the celebration, Prince William and Prince Harry were seen mingling close to one another; yet, it has been confirmed by a number of sources and witnesses that they did not even care to glance at each other.
