MBB Minute – The sixth Big 12-BIG EAST Battle starts Tuesday with a pair of matchups. The series will pit teams from both conferences in 11 games through Sunday. In Monday’s only BIG EAST game, Georgetown won its fifth in a row, defeating UMBC 86-62,
Tuesday’s schedule has two Battle games that will be carried on FS1. At 6:30 p.m., Villanova hosts No. 14 Cincinnati followed by BYU at Providence at 8:30 p.m. Also on Tuesday, Butler hosts Eastern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. on FS2.
Georgetown was led by standout freshman Thomas Sorber in its win against UMBC. The forward scored a game-high 23 points while making 6-of-7 from the field and 11-of-12 from the foul line. He also grabbed eight rebounds. The victory was the 350th for Hoya coach Ed Cooley.
The four Big 12-BIG EAST Battle contests on Wednesday feature five ranked teams. No. 25 Connecticut hosts No. 15 Baylor at 6:30 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion on FS1. No. 5 Marquette travels to meet No. 6 Iowa State on ESPN+ at 8 p.m. No. 1 Kansas plays at Creighton at 8:30 p.m. on FS1. Unbeaten DePaul visits Texas Tech at 9:15 p.m. on ESPNU. Also on the Wednesday slate is Seton Hall hosting NJIT at 8:30 p.m. on CBSSN.
BIG EAST teams are 64-22 (.744) going into Tuesday’s play.
