Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after his side’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The game got off to a slow start as injuries disrupted the flow, but Arsenal appeared to have the better of it and could easily have been in front when Bukayo Saka’s effort forced a superb save from Emi Martinez.

Villa then should have been in front themselves when Leon Bailey won the ball off Gabriel in front of goal before allowing Morgan Rogers to set up Ollie Watkins for a tap in. The England striker though, somehow stroked wide.

After that Villa had the slight edge as both teams traded half chances to leave the game finely poised at the break.

Not long after the re-start it had seemed certain that Villa would scored when Amadou Onana’s deflected effort bounced off the straight into the path of Watkins. David Raya sprung up miraculously though to keep the game at 0-0.

Villa continued to look the dominant side, but somehow it was Arsenal who edged in front when Leandro Trossard fired home a low effort.

The Gunners then doubled their lead when Thomas Partey’s powerful effort from the edge of the box squirmed between the gloves of Emi Martinez. The hard-fought win means that Arsenal keep their 100% start to the Premier League season going.

You can hear everything Arteta has to say on all that and more with football.london‘s chief Arsenal correspondent in our live blog below.

Arteta on Nketiah’s future

At the moment Eddie is our player. He’s very committed to us. Regardless of the noise, he’s here and he’s committed being here. He’s really happy that we won the game.

Arteta on Jesus’ injury

On Thursday in the training session at the end he felt something in his groin. We’ll have to have an MRI in the coming days to determine if it’s a long term injury.

Arteta on Raya’s save

I thought that it was a goal. I went no please and then when I see that striker in that position it’s normally a goal It’s unbelievable.

Arteta on the game

A really tough place to come. We found a way to win, especially because the team played with a lot of personality and understood the game even better. When we made the changes even better it had a massive impact on the team. When the team can evolve like that in the match it becomes a team that can win in all circumstances

Arteat on Trossard’s record as a sub

When you don’t get picked there are certain ways to recat. Leo is upset, but he’s upset to show this on the pitch. When you put him in the starting line up he does the same. He’s an example. That’s what we need.
