Arsenal legend Alan Smith scored some iconic goals for the club, as a striker who thrived in the air.
Naturally, he has drawn comparisons between himself and in-form attacker Kai Havertz, who he has praised for turning his Arsenal career around.
“He’s not an orthodox centre-forward, but he’s got a lovely touch, just like me!” Smith told club media.
“He’s good in the air, that’s a big similarity and he works hard for the team.
“He’s got a knack of popping up and getting goals. It was a tough start to his Arsenal career but I’m so pleased now that he’s settled and an integral part of that first eleven.”

Arsenal handed positive update over Bukayo Saka injury
Bukayo Saka returned to Arsenal after limping off during England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece at Wembley, in a huge injury concern for Mikel Arteta.
However, England coach Lee Carsley has revealed that the winger’s injury is not expected to be a serious one.
“Bukayo would have been close but it would have been unfair to take a risk with him. He’s a positive person and I expect him to be fine,” Carsley revealed before England’s trip to face Finland.
Saka is now expected to be fit for Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Bournemouth, and you can read more about his injury situation here.
David Raya praised by Spanish media
In-form Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya started for Spain in the absence of the injured Unai Simon, and continued his fine form as the European Champions beat Denmark.
Raya was praised by the media in Spain, with it claimed by Sport that the 29-year-old “has earned a place in the starting eleven due to Unai’s injury, but he exudes enormous confidence.
“He is a reliable player with his feet and is brave and daring when he comes out.”
Despite impressing for Arsenal over the last year, Raya is usually behind Simon in the pecking order for Spain, having played just one game in the victorious Euro 2024 campaign.
