The 2025 MLB season is almost upon us, and so is a crucial year for the Philadelphia Phillies. Fresh off an NL East title, but subsequent loss in the NLDS, the Phillies are once again hunting for Red October and an elusive third World Series Championship.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking you through each player with a chance at making the Phils’ active roster and discussing expectations for all of them. Next up is the current face of the franchise…
Name: Bryce Harper
2024 Stats: Slashed .285/.373/.525 with 30 HRs, 42 doubles, and 87 RBI over 145 games (550 AB). Earned his eighth career All-Star Game appearance, starting at first base for the National League in his first full year at the position. Also awarded his fourth Silver Slugger. Additionally, Harper had a homer, two doubles, and three RBI in the NLDS.
2025 Projections: Put simply, Bryce Harper is still one of the best all-around hitters in baseball and an essential piece of the Phillies’ roster. When he’s been healthy over the last three seasons, offensive production has soared all over the lineup. But now on the wrong side of 30, Harper’s prime is not guaranteed to last much longer. Does he have at least one more MVP-caliber campaign left in him? Most importantly, will he continue to be the insanely clutch .325 Postseason hitter he’s been so far in red pinstripes?
“Obviously we’ve gotten to the postseason and done those things, but we haven’t finished the job,” Harper told Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “The last couple of years should make you hungry to finish that job, no matter who’s in this clubhouse or what’s going on. That should be everybody’s goal.”
Harper has won nearly everything there is to win in MLB. Armed with a ferocious bat, a vacuum glove at first, and a new Phanatic tattoo, is this the year he cements his legacy as one of the city’s most legendary athletes by bringing a Phillies parade to Broad Street?
