CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – Two Randall high school seniors, Braeden Massengale and Breken Melton, both signed to play college football with the West Texas A&M Buffs to further both their athletic and academic careers.
Both Massengale and Melton were huge contributors on both sides of the football during their three years on varsity.
Massengale will be on the defensive line for the Buffs next season.
Melton was a two-year starter for the Raiders as both a tight end and defensive lineman. He will play at WTAMU as a linebacker.
Both say they will implement lessons they learned from their time at Randall at the next level.
“[They taught me] just be a good teammate and listen to the coaches and help them make me a better player,” said Massengale.
Melton had similar sentiments.
“Coach Sherwood taught me a lot of things…how to work hard and how to be a leader,” said Melton. ”I think that’s a big thing is leadership is taking that on to the next level. [WTAMU] feels like home. I think the program that coach Lynn is building is something I want to be a part of.”
The Buffs finished 5-4 in Lone Star Conference play and 5-6 overall this past season.
