Novak Djokovic holds the record for the most finals reached at the US Open in the Open Era, while Roger Federer also makes the top five of the list.
Bill Tilden, who won seven US Open titles in the 1920s, is the only man in tennis history who can match Djokovic’s 10 finals at the New York major.
Here, we look at the five players who have featured in the most men’s singles finals at the US Open since the first Open edition of the event in 1968.
=4. Roger Federer – 7
Federer reached eight US Open championship matches in his 19 appearances at Flushing Meadows and won five titles.
The Swiss made his debut at the hard-court major in 2000 and reached the final for the first time in 2004, when he crushed Lleyton Hewitt.
Federer contested his last US Open in 2015 and was beaten by Djokovic, while he played the event for the last time in 2019.
=4. Jimmy Connors – 7
Jimmy Connors was a seven-time finalist at the US Open and secured five titles from his 22 campaigns at the New York Grand Slam.
The American played the US Open for the first time in 1970 and advanced to his maiden final in 1974, when he downed Ken Rosewall.
Connors beat Ivan Lendl in his last title match at the US Open in 1983, while he played the tournament for the final time in 1992.

Pete Sampras reached eight title matches at the US Open from his 14 appearances and was a five-time champion at his home major.
The American made his Flushing Meadows debut in 1988 and defeated Andre Agassi in the first final he played in 1990.
Sampras also overcame Agassi in the last-ever match of his career in the 2002 US Open championship match.

Ivan Lendl contested eight championship matches in his 16 US Open campaigns and secured three titles.
The Czech-American played the US Open for the first time in 1979 and reached his maiden final in 1982, losing to Connors.
Lendl played his final title match at the hard-court major in 1989 and was beaten by Boris Becker, while his last appearance in New York came in 1994.

Djokovic has reached a record 10 finals from his 17 previous appearances at the US Open and has claimed four titles.
The Serbian made his debut at the US Open in 2005 and progressed to the final for the first time in 2007, when he lost to Federer.
Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in 2023 in his 10th and most recent title match at Flushing Meadows.
