As per a new report, the former co-owner of Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley, who is backed by Middle Eastern money, is preparing to step up a bid to purchase a stake in Tottenham Hotspur.
Staveley bought shares in Newcastle United during the club takeover from Mike Ashley in October of 2021 but left the club earlier this year.
And now it is coming out that Staveley, 51, has put together a funding team in order to try and buy a minority stake in Tottenham Hotspur. The said bid looks to be backed by serious money from the Middle East.
Staveley still holds Newcastle United shares; however, the threshold for holding a stake in two Premier League clubs is 9.9%, and her stake falls below that mark.
According to the report, Forbes valued Tottenham Hotspur at £2.42 billion, so – a 25% stake would cost approximately £650m pounds.
Investor want to buy £650m stake in Tottenham Hotspur
They further state that Staveley and her side initially plan to buy a small stake in the club, the long-term target is to buy more and more of Spurs.
In addition, they say that ENIC and chairman Daniel Levy are willing to sell a stake in Tottenham, and as a result, could hold talks with Staveley.
Middle Eastern investment always divides opinion, in any fanbase. Fans get giddy and excited at the idea of investing into the first team, to help Spurs improve and compete for the biggest trophies. The investment, or lack thereof, under the current stewardship of the club, has often been criticised, and fans see Middle Eastern money as a much better chance of money being spent on the first team.
However, there is a moral standpoint that fans will take, pointing to the human rights issues in Middle Eastern countries, and some fans do not want to be associated with that.
Of course, there will also be some fans on the fence, and somewhere in between both of those viewpoints.
Tottenham Hotspur ratings for EAFC 25 released
It is that time of year when the new EAFC (previously and better known as FIFA) is released, with the game set to come out around this time next month.
With that, several ratings have now been released, including the entire Tottenham Hotspur squad. Let’s take a look at some of the ratings.
Heung Min-Son leads the way for Spurs players, retaining his 87 rating from last year.
James Maddison is second, with a +1 rating this year, giving him an 85 rated card.
Romero and Vicario both have 84 rated cards, and Porro comes in at 83 rated to complete the five highest-rated Spurs players.
Werner is the fastest Spurs player on the game with 91 pace, Johnson is second with 89, and Udogie and Van De Ven joint third with 88. Whilst the former three are no doubt very quick, Van De Ven has been a bit shafted there. The Dutch defender was clocked as the fastest player in Premier League history last season.
Tottenham Hotspur ratings for EAFC 25 released
Son has the highest shooting, with 89. Maddison has the highest passing and dribbling, with 86 for both. Romero has the highest defending, with 85 – and Solanke has the highest physical, coming in at 83.
The slowest Tottenham player is Ben Davies, with 58 pace for the Welsh defender. Bless him.
Gray is Tottenham’s lowest-rated player, and only silver card, with a 73 rating for the midfielder this year. No doubt once EA sees him in Premier League action this year, that will have a big upgrade in 12 months.
Romero can feel aggrieved in general to only be 84 rated, but he can in particular feel hard done by to have 68 pace, 46 shooting, and, most egregiously of all – 59 passing.
Those at EA most definitely didn’t see his goal at Burnley last season to give him 46 shooting. Or his ball playing at the weekend to give him 59 passing. No chance could a player with 68 pace play in an Ange Postecoglu defence either.
Pep Guardiola pays a massive compliment to Tottenham Hotspur
Over the last few years, Tottenham fans have weirdly grown to like Pep Guardiola. The Spanish manager who is at the helm of Man City has been nothing but respectful and paid the greatest compliments to Tottenham Hotspur over the years.
It helps that Tottenham are a team he seems to struggle to win against. In fact, according to Transfermarkt, Pep Guardiola has faced Tottenham Hotspur 20 times and lost seven of those matches. He has only lost to Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea more times as a manager.
Well, the Tottenham praise train has continued yet again. Pep Guardiola has included Tottenham in a list alongside some other great Premier League teams, for the season which only commenced last week.
Pep Guardiola pays a massive compliment to Tottenham Hotspur
In an interview with Men In Blazers, Pep Guardiola was asked which teams can push Man City to the Premier League title this season. Alongside some other great teams, Pep Guardiola named Tottenham Hotspur.
In his own words, Pep Guardiola said: “If you ask me now, it’s Arsenal, Tottenham will be there for the way they play.”
Granted, Pep Guardiola did mention some other top teams. He was honed in on Arsenal being up there (which is no surprise, considering the last two title races), Liverpool under Arne Slot, Tottenham due to the way they play and Newcastle coming back.
So, he didn’t single out Tottenham, but Spurs fans shouldn’t turn their noses up at such praise. It goes to show that despite missing out on the top four last season, Ange Postecoglou made a name for himself not just among the spectators, but in the mind of the best manager in the league (and potentially even the world).
This season, Tottenham will hope to break into the top four. Like last season, it will be difficult, with some great teams rising to the top. However, Spurs are more experienced than last season and they have acquired some great signings. They are at least capable of qualifying for the Champions League.
Where do you think Tottenham will finish this season?
Tottenham linked to FC Barcelona player wanted by Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for FC Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen as the transfer window nears its end, according to Sport.
The 28-year-old Danish defender has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Manchester United also keen on securing his services.
This comes as FC Barcelona are trying to lighten their financial load by offloading players, with Christensen being a likely candidate for a summer departure.
Christensen’s possible Premier League return is getting Tottenham fans talking, as they see him as a solid boost to their defence.
The Danish international, who previously played for Chelsea, has proven his quality in England’s top tier, and his familiarity with the league would allow him to make an immediate impact at Spurs.
Tottenham currently have a solid core of central defenders, but adding a player of Christensen’s caliber could provide the depth and reliability needed to push for higher goals this season.

Tottenham already have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Eric Dier, so adding Christensen could really round out their defence, bringing in more experience, skill, and a cool head under pressure.
Barcelona’s willingness to sell Christensen stems from their need to reduce their wage bill, a move necessary due to the club’s ongoing financial difficulties.
Reports from Spanish media suggest that Barcelona are open to parting ways with either Christensen or Eric García, another young talent in their squad.
However, Tottenham will face stiff competition from Manchester United, who are also in the market for defensive reinforcements.
Despite having already signed Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, United’s shaky defensive record from last season, where they conceded 58 goals, has prompted them to consider additional options.
The Red Devils are reportedly eager to bring in another centre-back to shore up their backline, making the race for Christensen’s signature even more competitive.
Tottenham have also been linked with a potential move for a midfielder, but it seems we’ll have to wait until the transfer window closes to know for certain what the Spurs’ plans are.
Spurs loan watch: Disappointing day for Tottenham youngster
It was a disappointing day for Spurs teenage loanee Luka Vuskovic and KVC Westerlo as they drew 1-1 at home to OH Leuven in the Belgian Pro League.
Vuskovic, who joins Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2025 ahead of the 25/26 season, played in his fifth straight game for the Belgian outfit.
Other than in his second appearance, when he picked up an injury whilst scoring, the Croatian defender has played ninety minutes in all of his games for Westerlo.
Vuskovic’s side took the lead after 14 minutes through Abedire Mebude but were pegged back just five minutes later and that was the last goal of the game despite another 70 minutes of play.
Despite the frustrating result, it was another good performance from Vuskovic. The central defender made three clearances, won 3/4 aerial duels, completed three accurate long balls, created a chance, and even had two shots.

As a result of the draw, KVC Westerlo are now on ten points from their first five games. Still a solid return, but underwhelming when considering it was nine points from the first three games.
Next up, Vuskovic and his Westerlo counterparts travel to Genk, for the final Belgian Pro League game before the September international break. Genk’s game against Anderlecht this weekend was postponed so their hosts would have the optimal preparation for their Europa League qualifier in midweek. Coincidentally, Anderlecht, who are currently top of the league, are Westerlo’s first opponents after the international break.
The showdown with Genk is on Friday night, and will kick off at 19:45 BST, 14:45 ET.
In between the games with Genk and Anderlecht is the international break. Vuskovic has been called up to numerous Croatia age group sides, so it will be interesting to see which one he gets called up to on this occasion..
