Bregman would check two of the Sox’s boxes: a second baseman, and a righty slugger. This past season, Bregman hit .260 with 26 homers, and 30 doubles. He also has a Gold Glove, meaning he is a proven defender.
After losing their main righty slugger target in Teoscar Hernandez to the LA Dodgers, the Sox need to get Bregman. The only problem is the contract. He wants seven years, the Sox want to give him five. If they could meet in the middle with six, they need to pull the trigger.
If the Sox really want to set themselves up for success, they’ll get one more guy from Perrault’s list. With the top options being Tanner Scott or Roki Sasaki, getting Anthony Satander or Jack Flaherty would also be huge.
Hopefully, the Sox sign Bregman and one of the other top options, and can become a top dog of the AL once again.
