Two years ago, Prince William made the decision to move Kate Middleton and their children to a cottage in Windsor and there was a truly wholesome – but heartbreaking – motivation behind it.
When it comes to royal residences, the royal family don’t exactly have a small cohort to choose from.
William and Kate made the decision to move their family from London to Windsor, swapping out Kensington Palace for a more low-key home.
The couple chose Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park to create their new home, and despite being a four-bedroom house, it was still relatively smaller than what they had been used to.

Several reasons played into why they decided to move, but the main, very heartwarming motive has been particularly praised.
Prince Philip had just died before the family moved, meaning it came at a time when the Queen needed her family around.
Royal author and journalist Robert Jobson, revealed why he thought the family had moved in his latest book, Catherine, Princess of Wales.
He suggested: “[William] knew his time with his grandmother was precious and he is delighted they, as a couple, made that decision.
“Catherine understood that for William, as a future king, it was important for him to be geographically closer to the late Queen in her final months, when he was required to support both her and his father. It made a real difference.

“They were in regular contact, seeing each other in person and speaking on the phone several times a week, bringing them even closer.”
The late Queen passed away just months after the family moved to Windsor, but knowing that they got to spend those final moments closer to her would have meant a lot.
However, the couple have reportedly maintained their apartment at Kensington Palace, and are currently using it as office space.
They live full-time in Windsor, and the children attend Lambrook School which is located nearby.
In his latest book, Jobson has revealed more details about the couple’s early dating life, putting a lot of speculation to rest.
The pair briefly split after five years of dating while they both attended university at St Andrews.
According to claims in the book, while rumours of a proposal were in the air, it’s safe to say that William got a major case of cold feet and ended it with the future princess in a 30-minute phone conversation.
Months after the altercation, they saw each other at a friend’s Halloween party, and of course, rekindled their romance.
As they say, the rest is history.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, have made a major change to their social media profiles following their announcement yesterday (9 September).
The royal couple shared a heartwarming video that disclosed the Princess has finished chemotherapy, and is now cancer-free.
The video, captured by Will Warr showed the Wales’, along with their three children; George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six, enjoying the great outdoors.
And today, it has been noted that the social media accounts of the Prince and Princess have undergone a notable change.
The profile photo on both their Instagram and X accounts has been replaced with a still from the big day out, and shows William and Kate sat side by side, laughing together.
This replaces the previous photo – which showed the couple with their arms around each other as they enjoyed a walk along Howth Cliff, near Dublin, in March 2020.
Their cover photo on X has also been changed to the whole family – another still from the latest video.
The Princess captioned the moving video: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.

“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.
“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.
“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.
“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
She continued: “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.

“Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.
“William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.
“To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light so let that light shine bright.”
Many famous faces offered their well wishes.
Fearne Cotton commented: “Weeping. This is so beautiful. Love and prayers,” while Amanda Holden added: “I’m sobbing. This is beautiful.”

Fans of the Prince and Princess of Wales have been pouring over each and every detail of a video posted to social media yesterday (9 September) – and have noticed .
The royal couple William and Kate released a sweet video, which was filmed by Will Warr, of the entire family enjoying the outdoors.
Joining their parents were the children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
The video was shared to accompany the announcement that Princess of Wales has finished her chemotherapy treatment and is now cancer free.
Eagle eyed viewers on social media have been quick to spot a few key details, however.
One such detail is that everyone is wearing blue.
However, it’s a deliberate choice, according to Elizabeth Holmes, author of New York Times bestseller, ‘HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style’.
She told Vogue that the royals are ‘always very aware of the message their clothing sends’ – and the colour blue is Kate’s signature look, Elizabeth added.
And now, social media users have noticed another specific – and rather sweet – detail.

In one frame, Prince Louis holds out his hand to grab onto Kate’s arm.
One user wrote on X: “The way Louis move his hand towards his Mom’s hand.”
Another user replied: “You can also see George’s hand move from behind his sister up, probably to touch his mom’s back at the same time. In sync brothers. Lovely family.”
While a third added: “The future is bright for the monarchy.”
Kate captioned the moving video: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.

Fans think they’ve ‘worked out’ the meaning behind a beautiful detail in Kate Middleton’s recent video.
Earlier this week, Kate, 42, shared a heartwarming video, explaining that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment.
The ’emotional’ video, captured by Will Warr, showed the Wales’, along with their three children; Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, enjoying the great outdoors.

After sharing the video, one fan pointed out a beautiful detail, in which Kate can be seen holding a butterfly.
“Holding a butterfly in your hands and letting it go symbolises themes of freedom and transformation,” they wrote.
“Butterflies are commonly associated with change, growth and beauty due to their life cycle.”
The insects are also thought to represent personal growth and protection, as well as hope and new beginnings.

Since the release of Kate Middleton’s heart-breaking video which saw her reveal that she has finished her chemotherapy treatment, everyone wants to know one thing.
The video, which was posted earlier this week on their Kensington Royal official X account, shows the family enjoying a day out together, while Kate talks about her treatment and how she’s felt these past few months.
Speaking about her cancer journey over a beautiful slideshow of the Wales’ and their children, Kate said: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

However, all people could focus on after being relieved that the royal is doing well, is that the family was wearing blue. Actually, they noticed that they are always wearing the colour.

After taking in the serious topic, someone pointed out: “On a lighter note, I appreciate this family’s commitment to dressing in blue.”
Someone commented below: “Cambridge Blue FOREVER.”
So, why blue?
According to Karen Haller, a Behavioural Colour Psychologist and the author of The Little Book of Color, it’s a significant statement.
She spoke to MyLondon and said: “Wearing the same hue when the Cambridges are showing they are coming together as a family, representing themselves as a cohesive unit.
“When it comes to colour psychology darker blues communicates you are in a position of authority, trustworthy, reliable and can be depended on. You have a sense of duty and take that seriously with committed focus.”
Another author also believes this to be true.

Elizabeth Holmes, author of New York Times bestseller, HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style, it’s on purpose.
She told Vogue: “The royal family is always very aware of the message their clothing sends. A huge part of their very public role is to be seen – as Queen Elizabeth II famously said.
“Before anyone knows what work they are doing, what cause they are supporting, or what event they are attending, we see what they are wearing. They know that and they use that quite savvily.”
She explained: “I think it’s worth considering Catherine’s commitment to blue. For the first official pictures of her as a royal bride-to-be, she wore a vivid blue wrap dress to match the famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring that had belonged to Princess Diana.
“She has since worn every shade of blue, from a soft and pale (one might even call it Cinderella blue) to a deep navy.”
