The Cleveland Browns were steamrolled at home by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday by a score of 33-17, and to be honest, Week 1 wasn’t even that close. By the time the Browns offense woke up, the Cowboys led 27-3. The Browns scored on their opening drive with a 51-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins. After that, the Cowboys rattled off 27 consecutive points.
The final dagger was a 60-yard punt return early in the third quarter by Cowboys speedster KaVontae Turpin around the right side, untouched to the end zone. The Browns defense at times held their own, but the offense could not sustain drives at all, so they spent a good portion of the game on the field. After their opening drive field goal, the Browns had six more offensive possessions in the first half.
Five of those were 3-and-outs and the other was an interception. The Cowboys’ defense was stifling and the Browns had no answer. They had two good offensive drives in this game, both for touchdowns in the second half. They would add two more 3-and-outs in the second half to go along with two turnover-on-downs and another interception. It was an absolute offensive nightmare that will have Watson waking up in cold sweats all week. Related:
