Kevin Love has recently been reported to be looking to be bought out by the Utah Jazz. Love was traded there by the Miami Heat in a three-way trade that involved the Los Angeles Clippers, that sent Norman Powell to Miami, and John Collins to the Clippers.
For Kevin Love, he is coming off a season with the Los Angeles Lakers in which he averaged just 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. For Love, if a buy-out is achieved, these stats would make it seem as though it would be impossible for a team to consider signing him to the team. While that may be the case, and Kevin Love could be on the market for a bit before signing somewhere, there is one team that makes sense to go through with signing him instantly and that team is the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles Lakers Sign Kevin Love?
After all the drama this offseason surrounding LeBron James and his future with the Los Angeles Lakers, it is clear that it remains unclear as to what that could entail. One thing is for certain, James is back for this season at least, and the Lakers now must make the most out of it. In doing so, they could look to add Kevin Love and end up reuniting him with LeBron James as they played together on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Kevin Love is certainly not the player he once was, and is going to be 37 by the time the NBA regular season starts. What Love can still provide is valuable bench depth that can bring leadership, rebounding, and floor spacing to the Lakers that they need in that role.
Reuniting Kevin Love and LeBron James would be ideal, having already accomplished winning a championship together, and with Love’s style of play as well he should end up pairing well with Luka Doncic. One thing is for certain: Los Angeles needs to add more depth, and Love can provide that for them.
