The San Francisco 49ers missed the playoffs entirely after making it to the Super Bowl last season. This offseason, they will have some big questions to answer as they turn their attention to free agency and the NFL Draft.

The 49ers 6-11 season has them picking 11th in the 2025 NFL Draft. The draft will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin this April for the first time ever. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner outlined the 49ers’ needs as they look to get back to dominating the NFC next season.

“The 49ers have been the bullies of the NFC, but that reputation took a hit this season as they were regularly beaten up along both lines,” wrote Wagoner. “They need a run-stuffing defensive tackle, as well as additional pass rushers to complement Nick Bosa. San Francisco has been hesitant to spend early picks on the offensive line, but it needs upgrades in multiple spots. It could target a tackle who could immediately compete on the right side and perhaps be a long-term answer on the left.”

The 49ers will also be focusing on Brock Purdy’s contract. They are unlikely to draft a quarterback, but whatever they do with Purdy will dictate how many of their needs they can address in free agency. As Wagoner noted, adding talent around Nick Bosa should be a focal point.

Bosa missed four games this season. When he is on the field, he is constantly facing double teams and still manages to produce. However, the 49ers are missing the player who can take advantage of all of the focus Bosa gets.
